Struktur Lab is an interdisciplinary collective that believes a community-led approach is the best way to make housing attainable for all.
And it starts with a clear-eyed look at the crisis we face.
It sounds obvious, but we’ll say it anyway:
Your community can’t thrive if people can’t afford to live there.

THE CHALLENGE
Across the country, there is an estimated shortage of more than three million homes. First-time buyers, senior residents, and those in need of workforce housing are particularly impacted in rural neighborhoods, where access to adequate and attainable housing remains one of the biggest hurdles to thriving communities.
RURAL REALITIES
Rural America faces defining challenges: wealth disparity, gentrification, seasonal economies, vulnerable job markets, low population density, disinvestment, and outdated housing. New homes are unaffordable. Long-term rentals are scarce. Often, the only option is leaving—a trend that, at scale, exacerbates these problems.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
OUR MISSION
We believe solutions for attainable rural housing are within reach through self-reliant regional cooperation that faces the challenge head on. Struktur Lab’s mission, first and foremost, is to develop a collaborative multidisciplinary framework that brings together diverse experience, expertise, perspectives, and resources to achieve this goal.
